History
1930 - Original
building was built.
1939 - Stanley Wood
Sr. purchased and started the Chevrolet Dealership.
He started with 10-15 employees.
1940 - 1973 -
Clarence Huff was the General Manager. Mr. Huff was
with the company for 33 years when he had a stroke.
He was one of many dedicated employees with 40+
years of service.
1948 - Stan Wood
came on board.
1950 - The Body Shop
was purchased
1955 - The Body Shop
was remodeled to include the Block portion.
1958 - Pontiac
Franchise was acquired
1965 - Purchased the
property that GM Sales Offices now occupy. It had
four houses on it in 1964.
1972 - Scott Wood
joined the dealership as an assistant to the sales
person.
1973 - Purchased the
old Gulf Oil Station
1979 - Remodeled the
main building and added the metal shop portion of
the service department.
1984 - Purchased the
SW Corner lot on Fowler and Central.
1987 - Scott Wood
purchased the Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge
franchise.
1988 - Installed the
paint booth in the body shop
1991 - The Chrysler,
Plymouth, and Dodge Dealership merged with the
Chevrolet Pontiac Dealership. The old Gulf Station
was remodeled into sales offices.
1995 - Scott Wood
purchased Jeep-Eagle from Ms. Rowlett
During World War II
era, between 1942 and 1946, there were no new cars
built. The new cars that were built could only be
obtained by permit by people who benefited the war
effort. Our company survived on the sales and
service work. The Old Gulf Station was a
functioning gas station in the 1960's. After it
closed and was purchased in the 1970's, it was used
for car preparation for several years.
